Regular dark-mode filters darken everything uniformly, making faces and people in videos hard to see. DarkTube AI runs Google’s MediaPipe Selfie Segmentation locally — WebAssembly inside a Web Worker — to detect people in every frame, then darkens only the background around them.
Shift+Drag marks manual protection zones you want kept visible, and a toggle button lives inside YouTube’s own player. DRM-protected content is detected and skipped automatically. Zero latency, zero network requests, built for late-night watching and OLED screens.
